Do any of you feel this way? I’m sure you must.
I’m currently trying to build up a stock of items for selling. This is taking up all my sewing time. I am having a great time and gaining a lot of experience sewing the same thing over and over again. I switch up what I am working on to keep things interesting. I will sew two of one style of dress, then two of another style, etc..
Then there is the sewing I want to do for myself and my kids… and even my husband!
The list is building constantly (with the help of Pinterest – I’m such an addict!).
I have never been much of a purse-person, but since learning to sew, I am quickly becoming one. Check out these bags ~
Then there’s the clothes I would love to make for my girls ~
The fun things I could make for the kids ~
(These are ‘Pajama Eaters’. You unzip their mouth and put your pajamas in them. So cool! Found here.)
Clothes for me ~
And the techniques I would love to learn ~
(Binding – and quilt making, for that matter!)
(hand smocking)
What have you all been sewing? What a you dying to sew? What techniques are you wanting to learn?
When my husband bought me my machine (he gave it to me one Christmas when we were not supposed to get each other gifts!), he said the only deal was that I had to make him a quilt. I would *love* to surprise him with one. Can anyone recommend a good quilt (or a few good ones) that would be simple enough for a beginner? I don’t know where I will find the time, but I can try!!
I hope you are all having a great summer! I have been missing blogging so much, but there is only so much time in a day. I’m looking forward to blogging more regularly once the kids are back in school.
(All pictures are taken from Pinterest, with the exception of the Pajama Eaters. Most of these projects have free tutorials. I can not tell you how thankful I am, and how much I appreciate all the free tutorials you can find online. A huge thank you to all those who put them up. I hope to ‘repay’ the kindness one day by posting tutorials of my own.)

I know what you mean! My “to sew” list seems to grow exponentially, but business sewing takes time, too. I LOVE the PJ monsters – I think I will be making a pair for my nephews come Christmas!
As for quilting, Oh, Fransson! http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/quilt-tutorials-.html has some tutorials on basic quiltmaking, as does Diary of a Quilter http://www.diaryofaquilter.com/p/tutorials.html. If you want quick and easy, you might just want to start with big squares http://imagingermonkey.blogspot.com/2010/04/super-simple-patchwork-squares-quilt.html OR attempt something that can be strip-pieced, like a simple 9-patch http://twiddletails.blogspot.com/2009/05/quick-strip-pieced-nine-patch-tutorial.html. The first I ever made was an Irish Chain http://www.simplicity.com/t-free-quilt-patterns-Irish-Chain-Quilt.aspx. Have fun with all of your sewing! Can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on!
Thanks so much for the links, Andi. I should have thought to check Oh, Fransson. I’ve visited there before, but not for a while (since I don’t quilt – yet!).
